Machina Profile
Machina formally known as ‘karbi kauwa [manga language] is geographically situated in the north-west of Yobe state. It is bordered to the north by Niger-republic, to the south and west by Jigawa state, and to the east by Nguru local government Area also located in Yobe state.
Machina town is situated approximately on longitude 10⁰E and latitude 13.5⁰N . It lies on an altitude of 300 m – 600 m above sea level and located about 316 km from Damaturu the Yobe state capital. The land of Machina is also located between rocks that surround it. These rocks, are the younger granite rocks of the Jurassic period, deposited between 195 & 135 million years before the present.

The climate of Machina is one that records a hot and dry season for most period of the year, with a mean temperature of about 37⁰C and the highest temperature of 42⁰C. This high temperature is normally experienced in the months of March & April. However, the mean monthly temperature are at their lowest during December and January when the temperature could fall as low as 10⁰C
The influence of climatic fluctuations is reflected in the superficial deposits overlaying which for instance has led to the deposition of series of longitudinal and transverse dunes which run in a north-east to south-west direction in response to the prevailing wind direction.

Machina presently possesses a first class status in the state, and also in the state traditional council’s order, Machina emirate is the fourth in hierarchy.
The first Mai to occupy this distinguished status was the 77^th Mai of Machina, his royal highness ‘Alhaji Bashir Albishir Bukar (OON), who was promoted from second class status to a first class status on December 15^th 1999.

The creation of Machina emirate, brought about the sub-division of Machina into five districts, with each district possessing their own district head Machina emirate was sub-divided into; Machina, Dole-Machina, Bogo, Falmaram, and Damai, with a total of 100 towns and 14 villages.. Machina is an embodiment of rich cultures
The people of Machina are predominantly farmers, with quite a number of them engaging in livestock, production, animal rearing, hunting and trading. Blacksmithing and carving are also some of the crafts of the people. The embodiment of the rich culture, hospitability and acceptability of the people of Machina, makes them unique.
